Born as William Henry Cosby, Jr. in July 1937, Bill Cosby is a celebrated comedian, actor, and producer who has taken great strides to defy the negative portrayal of Blacks on the big screen. Before he became an actor, Cosby served in the United States Navy and subsequently earned an athletic scholarship at Temple University after his discharge from the army. However, Cosby only reached sophomore year and worked as a comedian in a New York Cafe which paved his way to future successes in film and television. Cosby is known for winning three Emmy Awards for his performance in I Spy and cemented his legacy in The Bill Cosby Show which takes credit for being one of the most popular programs in television history.
In 1983, it is reported that the actor purchased a million dollar estate in Montgomery which boasts a vast 8,940 square feet of living space; half of this area is occupied by a 5,800 square foot mansion built from stones dating from the 1800s.
